In this article:
– description of the log management section for monitoring logs of operations performed by G-Mation P6;
– how to view, save and remove logs;
– persistence management of log files;
Detail: details with respect to log persistence and the various types of logs supported
Applicability:
– BSP ver. 1.0.0 or higher
Description: the system logs management function is available by pressing “Logs” in the list of buttons on the edge of the screen in the “Menu” area.
By clicking the “Open Menu” button, the “Menu” area can be displayed/hidden.
The operator can filter the various logs by different source (GSetup, PAG, PLC, Kernel Log) and by different time references.
The logs can be accessed directly from GSetup or downloaded for later analysis
Notes: see section “LOGS, Insight” for details with respect to log persistence, the various types of logs supported, and the ability to filter access to various log files.
The section is organized into “Choose file type,” “Choose file view,” and “Choose date interval.”
“Choose file type” allows you to filter the selection of log files by their extension.
“Choose file view” allows you to filter the selection of log files according to their type.
Below is the result of filtering downstream of the “GSetup” view selection.
“Choose date interval view” allows you to filter the selection of log files based on a time reference.
Once the desired log filtering method has been configured, the file of interest can be selected: once a log file is selected, the panel will report the selection in the “File selected” field and activate the “Download Selected,” “View Selected,” and “Delete Selected” buttons.
Below is a detail with respect to the actions that can be performed on the selected individual log file:
“Download Selected”: allows you to download from G-Mation P6 the log file to your remotely connected computer;
“View Selected”: allows you to preview the contents of the selected log file;
The preview panel has two buttons in its end zone, a “Save” button to save the preview and a “Back” button to exit the preview itself and return to the main “Logs” panel.
“Delete Selected”: allows you to permanently remove the selected log file from the memory of the G-Mation P6. The actual removal of the selected file is confirmed by a popup.
The “Logs” panel allows you to act on the “Persistent Log” switch to enable/disable persistence of log files.
If the “Persistent Log” switch is enabled, the log files remain saved on the G-Mation P6 and can also be accessed in subsequent work sections.
Changing the state of the “Persistent Log” switch results in a reboot of the G-Mation P6: the action is requested through an operator popup that asks for confirmation with respect to immediate or delayed reboot start.
By selecting a point outside the popup area, the reboot procedure stops and the dialog popup is hidden.
In the case of “Reboot Now” the reboot sequence is started immediately: the GSetup shows a “Reboot in Progress” bar and the system is not operational;
In the case of selecting “Reboot Later,” GSetup will display a special icon under the “GSetup” side menu
if the icon is clicked, the confirmation popup to start the reboot sequence is presented again to the operator.
At the end of the reboot sequence, the GSetup “Logs” screen is displayed again without a “Reboot in Progress” bar, and the system becomes operational again.
